In 2018, St. Paul School completed an impressive expansion and update. The second floor was added to our school which enlarged the building by 27,000 square feet and included the following: school offices, the Library Learning Commons updates, restrooms, an instrumental music room, new art room, nine new classrooms, video production studio, a teacher workroom, new interactive whiteboards, an elevator, two new science labs, a STEAM/IDEA Lab makerspace, intervention specialists center, and two preschool classrooms.
Currently, St. Paul School has an enrollment of nearly 913 Preschool-8th Grade students.
Our current church (the third), built in the classical Romanesque design, as well as parking and site improvements, were completed in 2011. The church seats 1,400 worshipers. The total square footage is 37,556 square feet which includes the sanctuary, eight meeting rooms, a full-service kitchen, a large vestibule, and the choir loft with the Muller Pipe organ.
The Library Learning Commons (LLC) is the hub of the school. Like the classic library, the LLC has many books and resources for student leisure reading and research. In addition, the LLC provides space for group work, STEAM activities, display of student artwork and class projects, and participation in community art projects. The LLC has a stage and a large screen for student presentations, drama productions, guest speakers, and visual learning. Students are free to access the computer lab that adjoins the LLC. The LLC is an active place where students learn, read, and choose books and activities that interest them.
Our school implements STEAM disciplines through three channels. Our IDEA Lab acts as a classroom, a lab, and a makerspace. As a classroom, St. Paul teachers use the IDEA lab to extend and enrich classroom learning by incorporating STEAM strategies into the basic core curriculum. The IDEA Lab is also a laboratory where students can develop and monitor special-interest long-term experiments and projects. Finally, the IDEA Lab serves as a makerspace for students to individually or collaboratively design, build, create, and realize their talents in engineering, art, and design.
Each St. Paul School student is a valued person with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs. We have a dedicated, well-rounded team of professionals including our school nurse, guidance counselor, reading specialist, three intervention specialists, math inclusion specialist, and speech pathologist.
Our intervention specialists collaborate with classroom teachers and parents to design, implement, and assess individualized strategies for children with specific educational and social adjustment needs. The Intervention Specialist Center is a cheerful, comfortable space where students can receive assistance and direction in their school work and social relationships.
Construction was completed on the parish’s new Activities Center in 2008. Today, this space serves as the gymnasium for the school. In addition, it will seat over 1,000 people and provides a gathering space for church programs, athletic events, school performances/programs, and fundraisers. In 2019, in recognition of our former pastor, Father Charles Klinger, the center is now known as the Klinger Center.
In 2007, St. Paul purchased ten acres on Moss Rd. near the school to replace the old athletic fields needed for parking for the new church. The Parish Athletic Association (PAA) raised over $300,000 to develop the land, create the athletic complex, and build a concession stand. The fields accommodate parish football, baseball, and softball games as well as lacrosse practice.
Our school’s PAA is a non-profit self-funding organization formed to serve and support the youths of the Parish. All members are volunteers. The organization’s mission is to provide the youth of St. Paul Parish with a sports program that will promote spiritual, physical, and social values in a Christian environment.
