Hello from the Language Arts Room 14! On this webpage you can expect to find information such as test dates, project due dates, special instructions and schedules.
This is the final week of Lit Circles for Room 12! They are now working on a final project, a book mark, which is due on Tuesday 5/28. Please follow all directions and turn in the rubric upon completion.
Rooms 11 and 14 are finished with their Chronologs, which were due today, Monday, 5/20.
Reading Contract Reflection:
Students and parents have signed Reading Contracts, and have agreed to work on the Reading area using reading strategies provided on the "help" sheets or strategies of their own. Students and parents have also agreed that the student will reflect on his/her progress each month and will write a brief description of efforts made and tools used each month. Students should include a sentence or two about how they feel about their progress and whether or not they will continue to use the same strategy. This reflection is due on the last Friday of each month, with the exception of December and March. Due dates are as follows: December 19, January 25, February 22, March 26, and April 26. A final summary of the year's progress is due on Friday, May 31.
Parents:
Occasionally I allow students to type their papers/projects because I will not be taking a cursive handwriting grade from that piece of work. If this happens, and you would like to type for your child, it is imperative that you type ONLY what your child has written. Please do not change ANY punctuation, spelling, capitalization, paragraph indents, etc., as this will affect my ability to assess your child's progress. If possible, allow your child to type his/her own work.
Please turn OFF the Autocorrect function in the Word program, so that students can be responsible for their own work.
