Dear Parents,

“Excellence in education matters and we should honor the schools that are leading the way to prepare students for success in college and careers,” said Secretary Duncan. “National Blue Ribbon schools represent examples of educational excellence, and their work reflects the belief that every child in America deserves a world-class education.”

On Tuesday, September 24, 2013 St. Paul Catholic School was recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne  Duncan as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence based upon overall academic excellence. St. Paul School received this honor for "Exemplary High Performance" as one of Ohio’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments and nationally-normed testing.  The Department will honor the 286 public and 50 private 2013 award winners at a recognition ceremony in Washington, DC on November 18 through 19. In its 31-year history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed this coveted award on nearly 7,500 of America’s schools.
To be considered for this prestigious award a school must provide evidence that their student achievement scores on nationally-normed tests in math and reading have been in the top 15% of scores nationwide for five consecutive years. Schools must also submit evidence they promote the use of exemplary research-based teaching and learning practices that have been proven to increase student achievement gains.

To select National Blue Ribbon Schools, the Department requests nominations from the top education official in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and the Bureau of Indian Education. The Council for American Private Education nominates private schools. A total of 420 schools nationwide may be nominated. The Secretary of Education invites nominated schools to submit an application for possible recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. A list of the 2013 National Blue Ribbon is available at

St. Paul School has been blessed with a dedicated and faith-filled community of learners, teachers, parents, and staff members. The entire school and parish community shares in our success and the honor of being named as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. We continue to thank God every day for the many gifts he has given including the opportunity to live out our mission of teaching, living, and learning in the Light of Christ.

All for you Jesus in adoration, thanksgiving, and supplication,

Kathleen Norris, PhD
